How Do You Know if Mr. Right Is Mr. Yours?

Rodger—

I have been dating forever but now I have finally found Mr. Right. We are perfect for each other because we both love to go shopping during the day and dancing at night. The one thing that I need to ask you about is that he talks on the phone every night with his old BF. Should I demand that he stop talking to the old BF so often or is that nagging?

Gay and Happy Too

Dear Gay and Happy Too~

Don’t pee on my leg & tell me it’s raining.

That is, don’t describe how a guy is still involved with his old boyfriend & then tell me he’s your Mr. Right.

If he’s committed to you & your relationship, he should reduce his contact with his “old” boyfriend on his own. It shouldn’t require any demanding on your part.

i agree that today's advice was very, very funny - but almost as funny was the writer thinking that because he and the guy both like shopping and dancing then they must be made for each other - LOL!

I'm sorry if this is stereotyping but this guy says he and his BF are perfect for each other because they both like to shop and dance but isn't that true for a hudge percent of gay men?

as a gay man in his 20s i would say that the percentage of gay men in there 20s who like to shop during the day an dance during the night is oh i don't know maybe something like 90 percent - if you want to call that huge

The commenters on this blog are too cynical. This letter writer may be a little naive but that is no crime or reason to beat him up. He has a new boyfriend and is looking for some advise on a very legitimate issue. Rodger was funny in the way he gave his advise but it was good solid advise never the less. Then all the commenters started nitpicking at the letter writer for saying he likes a guy because they have shopping and dancing in common. Stop attacking the boy!

Elaine's point makes a lot of sense to me - the guy may be a little naive, but he had a question - he got the advice he was asking for and that is what is important - he does not deserve to be humiliated

ok, so i sort of see elaine's point - but as a gay man i hate it when another gay man comes across publicly as such a piss ant flake and this guy definitely did

on all this back and forth about whether or not the commenters are being too rough on the letter writer i have to point out that people have picked on him saying he and the guy are meant for each other because they both like shopping and dancing (LOL!) but not one of us has -- until now -- made fun of the fact that the guy also said he has "been dating forever" which probably means maybe a year (LOL!)
